About X SOCKS

The principal behind the X-Sock theory was conceived when one of the world’s biggest sock manufacturers decided to collaborate with elite athletes and Podiatric Professors to produce the most advanced socks on the market.

The amount of design and yarn technology that is thrown at this socks is mind boggling but the bottom line for us outdoor types is that they are unbeatably comfortable in use, and are almost impossible to wear out. Just to back this up, X-Sock offers a two year guarantee with their socks. That means that if you manage to wear a hole in their socks they’ll send you a new pair... they don’t get many back!

The secret behind the comfort and the great fit is the intelligent use of modern and traditional yarns and the asymmetric design. The problem with more conventional sock design is often caused by a poor fit around the foot and overheating caused by excessive insulation in the sock. This often leads to sweat production, wet and eventually cold feet and ultimately, softened skin that is more prone to blisters other injuries.

Traditional socks act as a thick woollen sponge, that holds on to moisture rather that allowing it to evaporate away through the top of the boot or through the boot fabric.

By using different yarns in specific zones of the sock, comfort is maintained by supporting, insulating, protecting, wicking and deodorizing, effectively optimising the microclimate inside your footwear as much as this is possible. By making the sock more foot shaped (x-socks come as a pair of left and right socks), irritation caused due to poor fit and raised seams is removed and the close fit to the foot ensures that the zoned fabric can do its job.

Different sports place different demands on the feet hence the range of sports specific socks. At Head to the Hills we will introduce ranges of X socks for Skiing, Nordic Walking, Trekking and Hiking, and Trail Running as the seasons commence.

X-Socks ability to deal with moisture and their extremely precise fit allow them to compliment modern footwear perfectly. Take a look at some of the reviews we’ve been getting if you need any more convincing... these X sock’s are the future!
