Leki Tundra XS: Compact Trekking Pole Review
Following your excellent advice over the phone, I recently bought a pair of the Leki walking poles from your website. I’m not accustomed to writing pole reviews but I’ve been so impressed by these poles and your service I decided to come up with the goods, so here goes...
I guess I’m not your average pole user. What I love to do most on my days off, and if the weather is right, is hike a high ridge line in the fells and paraglide into the next valley, repeating the process if I can so I can reach easy transport back again. What could be more fun than that?
All my kit has to be very light and compact for obvious reasons and I picked the Leki Tundra poles as they are the most compact walking poles I could find that were still proper anti shock trekking poles. I have found that it’s worth packing poles during my trips into UK and European mountains as they really ease the pressure on my knees and back – the result of too many bumpy landings!
In the past I’ve had anti shock walking poles that were a bit too bouncy, for want of a better word. The Tundra poles felt very smooth, and the shock on planting the pole just seems to be absorbed without any fuss. The Aergon handle and strap are very comfortable, even after hours of use (which is not always the case) and I’ve found adjusting the poles to be quick and easy despite the 4 sections.
They also look great – I don’t know what Leki do to make the coating so tough but they still look good after a season of hard use. Well done Leki on producing one of the best compact trekking poles I have ever used!
I hope you find my Leki review useful.
