How to Use and Maintain Your Mountain King Poles

Holding your Mountain King Poles

how to hold yourtrekking poleHold your pole vertically, put your hand UP through the strap loop and back down onto the pole, grasping the grip. The straps run along the palm of your hand and the loop is cradling your wrist. This method of holding your trekking pole will allow you to relax your grip slightly and offers support to your wrist.

How to Use The Switch-able Anti Shock On Your Mountain King Poles

The anti-shock is operated by tightening the middle section until a click is felt. Tighten a further quarter turn. At this point the anti-shock is off.
To turn on the anti-shock simply un-tighten the middle section slightly to feel the click again. The anti-shock is now turned on.

Maintenance and Care of your Mountain King Pole

Proper care of your pole should lead to many hours of problem free use. There are however a few basic rules to follow:

* Store your pole dry
* Do not clean with any lubricants
* Do not over tighten
* Do not extend beyond the stop markings when using.

In addition, here are a few other helpful hints:

* Separate the three sections for a smaller pack size when putting poles in a rucksack/suitcase for travelling on aircraft to prevent damage.
* If you over tighten your pole – wear a pair of rubber gloves to get a firm grip to loosen the pole (do not twist the pole end caps).
* Broken sections can be replaced and we can supply new baskets, ferrules etc.
* With switch-able on off anti-shock – switching the anti-shock off for uphill sections can save energy.
* Using a pair of poles provides improved stability and ease of walking
* Use a rubber ferrule when walking on pavements to prevent the pole slipping
