Mountain Navigation & Map Reading for Beginners at Ravenglass Camping & Caravanning Club Site.
This 2 day course is brought to you in-conjunction with Ravenglass Camping & Caravanning site on the beautiful western Lake District Coast.
This Mountain Navigation and Map Reading Courses for Beginners is perfect for those new to mountain navigation or for experienced walkers who would like a recognised qualification.
We’ll be following the excellentNational Navigational Award Scheme (NNAS) syllabus, which will provide you with a structured approach to learning map and compass skills and will help you establish the basics that are so essential in a competent navigator.
Venue: Ravenglass Camp-site is set in 6 acres of woodland nestled between the mountains and the coast, only 500yrds from the seafront. This will be our base for the 2 days. To book your stay/ accommodation (minimum of 3 nights ), please contact Ravenglass site directly on: 01229 717250.

Assessment for the NNAS bronze Navigator Award is optional and costs £15, including certificate and badge.

Course details: Mountain Navigation and Map Reading Course for Beginners is a practical navigation course run in the unspoilt Western Lake District in the National Park.
The guide will provide a warm friendly welcome together with structured expert tuition lots of fun and loads of information throughout the 2 days. Both days will start at 09.30, day one ends at 16.30 and day two ends at 16.00, there will be breaks for drinks and food.
On completion of the course and assessment, you will be able to plan and safely follow walks in the countryside, primarily on paths and tracks, through a sound understanding of map features and route planning. Training and assessment will be completed over the 2 days and those who wish to complete the assessment process will be awarded with the NNAS Bronze Navigator Certificate.
NB: the exact route of our walks maybe weather dependant.
