However, after speaking with many locals who work for the Lake District National Park (LNDP) Authority, or who are involved with the tarn, it is clear that it is up for sales to reduce the liabilities of the LDNP rather than to raise capital for other projects. Stickle Tarn is one of the iconic features of the Lake District, it’s not just a tarn as for many it encompasses what the Lake District means to them. Their first Lake District fell walk, a first wild swim, an epic climb; it’s a place of inspiration that leads for many to a continued love affair with the Lake District.

The Lake District is England's largest national park and a world-class swimming destination, the Great Lake District Swim Challenge is to swim across all the swim-able Lakes.
The Great Lake District Swim Challenge West trip is a fantastic challenge to swim all the Lakes in the Western Lake District that's 8 Lakes and quite a few miles in between in just two days, while the East challenge is to swim the 9 Lakes of the eastern Lake District in two days.
